Issued by the Government of Alberta and awarded to youth aged 16-24 years old who:
- Participate in the Alberta Youth Employment Incentive
- Complete at least 200 hours of work with an employer, and
- Demonstrate all six key foundational employability skills:
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Problem solving
- Adaptability
- Time management
- Professionalism
NOTE: All youth workers aged 16 or 17 require parental/guardian consent to receive a digital badge. Workers who are 15 years old are ineligible to receive a digital badge due to platform access rules.
How it works
FOR YOUTH:
- Earn it: Work 200 hours and demonstrate all six foundational employability skills. Your employer’s skills assessment determines eligibility, and each skill must be verified to pass.
- Get it: If eligible, you will receive an email with a link to complete your digital badge application and get your digital badge. The application is through CanCred and the badge is issued by the Government of Alberta.
- Share it: Upload the badge to your resume, social media profiles or digital portfolio.
- Get recognized: Showcase your work experience and stand out to employers.
FOR EMPLOYERS:
- Hire a youth through the Alberta Youth Employment Incentive and support the youth with working 200 hours to gain all 6 key foundational employability skills
- When submitting your declaration to confirm the number of hours worked, complete the Skills Assessment for any youth who worked 200+ hours
- If eligible, the youth will receive an email with a link to complete their Digital Badge application and get their digital badge.
- Youth can share their digital badge on a resume, social media or digital portfolio to showcase their work experience and stand out to employers
